Additional Justice of the Peace Services

A Justice of the Peace has the power to perform a number of official acts within the State of New Hampshire. Justices of the peace have the power to:

  • Administer oaths and affirmations;
  • Take verifications upon oath or affirmation;
  • Acknowledge instruments;
  • Witness or attest a signature;
  • Certify or attest a copy;
  • Note a protest of a negotiable instrument;
  • Take depositions;
  • Perform marriage ceremonies;
  • Perform civil unions; and,
  • Issue warrants.
